Taiwan Wisdom Light Technology Co., Ltd. has developed a new smart card product that provides a reliable, convenient and secure multi-factor authentication solution for a range of markets including individuals, government agencies, financial and corporate. The card supports Bluetooth® LE, near-field communication (NFC), and USB communication interfaces for unlimited cross-device use.

BobeePass FIDO cards are verified by FIDO2 L1 and L2 authenticators (which is a set of specifications from the FIDO Alliance). The FIDO Alliance advocates the promotion of Fast Identity Online (FIDO) authentication, which promotes secure login methods using standard public-key cryptography to replace password logins to provide strong authentication.

The smart card features Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52 series system-on-chip (SoC) and an embedded fingerprint sensor for authenticating requests. It is designed for use cases such as user account login, payments, public key infrastructure (PKI), database encryption, application encryption, electronic signatures, and personal verification. Additionally, it can integrate applications for access control and digital wallets.

To enable the application of Bluetooth low energy, NFC and USB communication, the smart card integrates Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52840 advanced multi-protocol SoC. The nRF52840 integrates the Arm CryptoCell-310 cryptographic accelerator that provides superior security for Cortex-M-based SoCs. Use full-speed (12 Mbps) USB for low-latency, high-bandwidth communication with a range of host devices, including PCs and smartphones. If you don't need USB, you can also choose a smart card version with Nordic nRF52832 SoC.

The BobeePass FIDO card uses a rechargeable lithium battery and leverages the computing power of the nRF52840/nRF52832 SoC's 64 MHz, 32-bit Arm® Cortex® M4 processor with floating point unit (FPU) to monitor the integrated fingerprint sensor and Do core processing. Using the Nordic nRF52840 or nRF52832 SoC's 2.4 GHz multiprotocol radio, data can be transferred in "real-time" between the user device and the FIDO security chip via a Bluetooth Low Energy wireless connection.

Xie Yida said: "Nordic nRF52840 SoC plays the role of product control core, responsible for managing data input and output of Bluetooth low energy/NFC/USB communication, data encryption and decryption algorithms, power control management, user interface, security chip interface and fingerprint sensor interface."
